The wax melter is designed for melting old combs. Steam melting is quick, simple and effective. Before melting, pour water into the wax melter, place approx. 23 frames (the exact number depends on the frame size) into the perforated comb basket and bring the water to a boil with a gas burner. The boiling water produces steam which rises into the perforated basket and melts the combs.

The pure wax drains through the perforated basket floor and then flows through the outlet pipe into an outer container, while debris remains in the perforated comb basket. This process also cleans and disinfects the frames. A melting cycle takes about 30 minutes. Cappings wax can also be melted in the wax melter.

Make sure the bottom of the wax melter is always covered with water; this can be checked at the inlet pipe.

A gas burner is used to heat the water in the wax melter; we place the burner under the melter. Solid fuels can also be used. The gas burner is not included.

The outer container of the wax melter can also be used to disinfect beekeeping tools, equipment and frames. To do this, the wax outlet pipe must be closed with a blanking plug.

This wax melter is very popular with beekeepers. We recommend it for beekeepers with 20–100 colonies.
